share your story on voices of Boca

We are all excited about the nostalgic storytelling featured in Voices of Boca, an audio recording series produced by Amy DiNorscio. This project emulates the style and spirit of the NPR StoryCorps initiative.

Six audio recordings have already been conducted at The Flamingo House. We are now inviting the community to share their own story by recording themselves with a friend or another person at The Spanish River Library.

To have their story considered for the series, participants can submit their recording using the "share your story" button above!

The first voices of Boca you can listen to below:

Old Boca legend, Bo Ford, paused his river fly fishing and home wine making to share some old town farm stories with his nephew, David Haag. Both still long-time Boca Raton residents, they talk about their family farm that was once rooted where Broken Sound now stands. From strawberry fields to one wild story that once made the cover of Boca News, Bo Ford was known around town for running Bo's-U-Pic down the street from IBM and Bo's Surf & Sport which used to be next to what is today, V&S Subs. All great stories start with an old dirt road and this one, if you love nostalgic Boca Raton, you won't want to miss...

See the Flock Around Town

did you see the flock? See Where They Landed

If you’ve seen them and wondered, yes, that was us! In partnership with the City of Boca Raton, we brought this great migration to life. The installation toured six historic sites, culminating in its final nest at The Flamingo House.

sip n’ paint

The flock of 100 flamingos in Celebration of the Centennial nested at the The Flamingo House to conclude them flocking around town.  The Sip n’ Paint evening was a spirited event to end those festivities as around 25 locals, kids and coworking members connected and laughed painting those very plastic flamingos.  Prosperity Brewers' 1925 CentenniALE souvenir cups were given out, a $500 value complimentary Coworking month membership was given out, along with Centennial apparel was awarded to a couple of lucky winners - shop link: https://boca100.com/shop/?v=0b3b97fa6688
